About this Pilates

Pilates is not just another exercise system to “get fit”. Pilates is a mind-body practice that works on a deep level to re-educate the body to strengthen and lengthen the body, to correct postural imbalances, to improve co-ordination and develope body awareness, flexibility and muscle tone which leaves one with a deep sense of
well-being.

Shirley has gone on to develop the Body Harmony Approach, a more intuitive practice that integrates, awakening the spine using elements of breath and gravity, to allow a deep unwinding of tension that holds us back from true personal freedom. This work is not a repetitive system of exercise but a practice of using ones awareness and curiousity to explore and free the body from anxiety and stress.

Pilates is recommended by many health professional; osteopaths, physiotherapist, chiropractors and general practitioners because of its unique form of simple, gentle and precise movements.

Pilates can be of benefit for any and everyone regardless of age and fitness level.
